Of course, all the healthcare needs can be put on the back burner if you or your partner have a family plan provided by your employers. Now all you have to do is read the small print to see what coverage is provided for children while they are at elementary school or high school while still under the magic age of 18 years. After they pass the threshold of their eighteenth birthdays, the coverage gets more patchy.
Which is better: term or permanent insurance?
Perhaps it's the wrong way to think about insurance, but it's really nothing more than a form of licensed gambling. You find this insurance company prepared to take you on and then place a bet on how long you are going to live. The insurance companies studies the form guide and decides how long people like you tend to live. It sets the premium and the jackpot number. If you die within the first few years, your family are big winners. They hit the jackpot for just a few premium instalments.

What can you do to lower your auto insurance premiums
Insurance is all about estimating the risk of being in an accident. If you are a very safe driver, you will pay less than someone who regularly crashes into other motorists. Unfortunately, insurance companies cannot look into the future to discover whether you will have an accident in the next year. All they can do is make general assumptions based on who you are, where you live, how far you drive each year, and so on. Rightly or wrongly, you will be judged by your membership of a class based on your age, gender, the job you have, what type of vehicle you drive and whether you have a good driving record with no tickets. This means that a lot of the factors used to judge risk are under your control.

How credit rating affects insurance premiums
Having a good credit rating will pay off in the end. Why is that? Well, insurance companies tend to offer lower rates to customers with a good credit rating, because they are considered to be less risky. And taking into account that your credit score is one of the most essential factors determining your risk grade, it's really wise to keep it as good as possible. Insurance companies are using credit ratings from statistical point of view, which states that people with better credit scores tend to file fewer claims than people with worse credit records. Such tendency was observed only during the past decade, while historically homeowners insurance had a strong emphasis on the insured structure itself and its condition, leaving the owners and dwellers out of the frame.
7 ways to get sued for insurance fraud
The hard times many of us had to face with the recession have made some people think of "special" ways for getting some extra money. And when every dollar counts, any measure will do. Insurance companies report records in claims these days, typically for small amounts, and there's a growing number of frauds the carriers have to deal with. Having overwhelming numbers of claims may seem like the perfect way to get a fraud unnoticed, but fortunately for insurance companies it is not so.

The benefits of joining an auto club
You may think that joining an auto club (like AAA) will give you only roadside service assistance and some discounts when booking a hotel, but there's just a lot more to it than that. Even non-drivers should think about becoming a member of an auto club. There are just too many advantages of joining such a club to not getting into one right away.

Don't pay much - pay wisely
If your car is as old as 20 years old you must be aware of the fact that you are able to cover it choosing a policy that suits your case the best. The policy will probably differ but that is mainly the good part about it as you need the policy that will represent your interests in the best possible manner. But don't think insurance companies want to give you spare bucks or repair your vehicle only because they are noble - if insurance company lets you become covered by it means they want money from you... much more than you actually realize. Old cars are known to be problematic. They can break at any time so companies that are dealing with insurances understand what they getting themselves into with your car. Therefore it is very hard to get a good insurance that will promise you a new car instead of your old one if that dies on the road.

If it’s cheap, will it be bad value?
One of the tried-and-tested ways of catching your attention is to announce that something is "cheap". The trouble with this word is that it changes its meaning. Our experience tells us you get what you pay for. So, if you only pay a low price that usually means you get low quality. Although luck may be on your side and you find an inexpensive bargain, more often than not the result is bad value for money. Borrowing an example from across the pond, there once was an entrepreneur called Gerald Ratner who sold cheap jewelry.

Your baby’s weight and insurance
There's a school of thought that says, "the number don't lie". The assumption is that numbers are facts and facts are always true. So if someone counts the number of times something happens, this gives you a basis from which to estimate the probability of the same thing happening across a population. This is the basis of underwriting for insurance purposes.

Why are premium notices a source of stress?
Life is never fair. Just when you think you have hit rock bottom and things cannot get any worse, they get worse. You would have thought that a recession would mean premium rates would stay the same. In your dreams, you might have hoped for the rates to fall. After all, there's massive unemployment - it's the worst level of unemployment for more than sixty years.
Is it true that men file more insurance claims than women?
We all know that there's a war between sexes on who are better drivers, men or women? And as men are claiming to be far better at the wheel the statistics are actually on the opposite side. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Report dated 2004 notes men being involved in 27,000 more fatal accidents, 432,000 more injury accidents and 1,369,000 more incidents with damaged property, resulting in total 1,828,000 more insurance claims filed by men in 2004 only. And since then the trend hasn't changed.
And it's hard to tell that the most risky drivers - men younger than 25 years old - are contributing to these statistics. These are actually men of all age groups.
As an insurance agent from Ohio, Brad Vermillion has stated: "Men are more aggressive in their very nature and pursue a riskier attitude when driving a car. You see a man not wearing a seat belt, speeding and driving under influence far more often than a woman. The amount of miles driven throughout the lifetime is also quite higher with men than with women, which of course means a greater risk of being involved in a traffic accident and filing an insurance claim. The less you drive the safer you are."
